Terms of service

Last updated: 18 October 2026

These terms cover your use of Alpha Harness: the desktop application, its command-line tool, the laws and rules it delivers, and this website (together, “the software”). It is published by FREEDOM LABS LTD, British Virgin Islands (“we”, “us”).

By installing or using the software you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use it, and uninstall it if you already have. If you use it for an organisation, you confirm that you may accept these terms for that organisation.

1. What the software does

Alpha Harness runs on your own computer. It installs rules (“laws”) and guards into the AI development tools you use, gives them a memory that survives between sessions, and stops commands you have not asked for before they run.

Your files stay on your machine. We do not upload, read or store the contents of your projects, notes or vault. If you connect a cloud AI provider, your requests go from your machine to that provider under their terms, not ours. What the app does send us, and how to switch it off, is set out in our privacy policy and on the app's Privacy screen.

The guards reduce risk; they do not remove it. You remain responsible for what your AI tools do, for reviewing their work, and for keeping your own backups.

2. Your account

You sign in with an email address and a one-time code. You are responsible for keeping access to that mailbox. A subscription belongs to the email address it was bought with. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 18.

3. Plans, people and machines

  • Free: one workspace on 1 machine.
  • Pro: one person, up to 2 machines. Founding is the Pro plan at the founding price (section 4).
  • Teams: the number of people your plan includes, up to 2 machines each.
  • Enterprise: the number of people agreed in writing with us, up to 3 machines each, more on request.

A seat is one person and is not shared. Your account keeps the count of machines; the guards keep protecting a machine over the limit, but paid features do not reach it. What each plan includes is described on the pricing page at the time you buy.

In a Teams or Enterprise workspace, the owner and the admins they appoint set the policies, rules and blocked commands that apply to members' tools in the workspace's repositories, and can see the workspace record. The organisation is responsible for its members and for telling them what its admins can see.

4. Payment, refunds and failed payments

Card and PayPal purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd as Merchant of Record. Paddle is the seller on your receipt and handles sales tax and VAT. Bank transfers are invoiced directly by FREEDOM LABS LTD.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you paid for stays yours.
  • Paid plans have no free trial. They come with a 14-day money-back guarantee instead: ask within 14 days of buying and we refund you in full.
  • If a payment fails, paid features may stop 24 hours later, and come back once the payment succeeds. Nothing you created is deleted.
  • A founding price is kept for as long as the subscription continues. If it ends and is not restarted within 30 days, the price then on sale applies.

Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

5. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the software for your own work or your organisation's work: the free features for as long as you follow these terms, and the paid features while your subscription is active. We licence the software; we do not sell it. Everything not expressly granted here is reserved.

6. Our laws and our software are protected

The software, and in particular the laws, guard rules, law packs and the way they are selected and delivered, are our confidential information and intellectual property (or our licensors'). You may read them while you use the software. Unless these terms or the law expressly allow it, you must not, and must not help or allow anyone else to:

  1. copy, modify, translate, adapt, sell, rent, publish or redistribute any part of the software, including the laws and law packs;
  2. reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, decrypt or unpack the laws, or otherwise try to obtain its source code, contents, rules or methods, including by recording, monitoring or analysing what the software adds to or receives from your AI tools (its inputs and outputs) in order to rebuild, copy or compete with it;
  3. use the software, the laws, or anything they produce or contain to create, train, test or improve any machine-learning model or AI system, or any product that competes with Alpha Harness;
  4. extract or collect the laws in bulk, by script or otherwise;
  5. remove, bypass or interfere with licensing, signatures, encryption, machine limits or seat limits.

If the law where you live gives you a right to decompile the software to make it work with other software, ask us first at support@alphaharness.ai. We will either give you the information you need or set reasonable conditions.

7. What is yours

Your code, prompts, notes, memory and the laws you write yourself are yours. We claim no ownership of them. If you send us feedback or a suggestion, we may use it without owing you anything for it.

8. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the software to build or run anything illegal.
  • Do not share a seat between people or resell access.
  • Do not use it where export-control or sanctions laws forbid it.

We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. Where we do, we will say why, and we will refund any unused paid period unless the breach is of section 6.

9. When a subscription ends

Paid features stop. Your data is not deleted. The app returns to the free plan and everything you created stays on your machine, readable and exportable. We will never remotely erase your work. The app checks your plan with our server from time to time; if it cannot reach us, it keeps working for a grace period and then falls back to the free plan, without locking you out or destroying anything.

You can stop at any time by cancelling and uninstalling. Uninstall removes every file and hook the software added.

10. No warranty

The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. It helps you work; it does not guarantee that a given result is correct, complete or safe.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the software is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email the address on your account at least 30 days before it applies. If you do not accept it, cancel before then; continuing to use the software afterwards means you accept it. A change to how we use your data applies only to data collected after the change, and only with your consent where the law requires it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the British Virgin Islands. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings there.
